Product Team Effectiveness Sprint

Find where your product organization is losing effectiveness and decide what to change first.

For the senior leader accountable for product team effectiveness at an established company with several product managers or leaders already in place. Product may sit within product, operations, marketing, technology, data, digital, analytics, or AI. You have capable people. You want a clearer view of what is getting in their way.

Discuss the problem and whether a Sprint is a useful starting point.

Look at the work, then choose what to change.

  1. 01 / Understand

Review current work with the product leader and relevant team members. Look at how decisions, discovery, prioritization, and coordination actually happen.

  2. 02 / Find the friction

Examine PM time, customer exposure, collaboration, product practices, current AI use, and how decision context is retained. Focus on the areas relevant to your situation.

  3. 03 / Set priorities

Build the Effectiveness Map together, identify the highest-value opportunities, and agree on what deserves attention over the next 90 days.

Before starting, we agree on scope, access to relevant work, and who should participate. The approximately two-week pace depends on that access and availability. We use existing materials where possible.

What you receive

A practical map for the next 90 days.

The Product Team Effectiveness Map separates what to keep, what to stop, what to change now, and where AI may help. It gives your team a shared view of the priorities and the reasoning behind them.

Make one useful change where practical.

We look for an immediate improvement to try during the Sprint. That could be a Decision Receipt, a clearer decision process, or an AI-assisted customer research workflow. What is feasible depends on the problem, available information, and approved tools.

You can use the map independently. Continuing into an Accelerator or advisory engagement is optional.

One approach we can put to work

A Decision Receipt preserves the why.

Important decisions need context that people can find later. A short receipt records the reasoning while it is still fresh. These are prompts for a useful working record, not extra paperwork for every small choice.

Decision
What did we decide?
Context
What situation are we responding to?
Assumptions
What needs to be true?
Evidence
What informed the choice, and where can we find it?
Alternatives considered
What else did we consider, and why did we set it aside?
Expected outcome
What do we expect to improve?
What would change the decision
What new evidence or change would make us reconsider?
Revisit date or trigger
When should we look again, and who will bring it back?

Decision Memory connects those receipts to the work and makes the reasoning retrievable. Future teams and AI systems can understand the assumptions behind a choice and see when the evidence calls for a different one.

Decide what comes next with better information.

The Sprint can stand alone. If you want help acting on the priorities, the Accelerator focuses on two or three areas. Advisory support can follow when a lighter cadence is useful.
